What happens when ink heritage meets the algorithm?
Tattoo culture is ancient, but social media is where it explodes today. I decided to bridge both worlds by redesigning the biggest social platforms' logos using iconic, traditional tattoo flash codes.
The mandala lotus Hindu tattoo symbolizes wisdom, rebirth and openness just like how the ‘play’ sign on the Youtube logo is a promise of knowledge, discoveries and empowerment (editor’s note: for the sake of this post, let’s forget about the Tide Pod Challenge, the Cinnamon Challenge, the Condom Challenge, the Eraser Challenge etc.)
You don’t need to go to Harvard to understand the Snap logo ghost’s symbolism. Just like the ephemeral messages sent on this platform, the Snap ghost can disappear in a few seconds. Add to this the fact that the app was first called ‘Picaboo’ and you’ve got it. Quick reminder: a Snap of a tattoo disappears, a tattoo of Snap doesn’t. N-E-V-E-R. You’ve been warned.
